Originally from Romeo Michigan, Christopher Kuhns holds a Bachelor of
Music degree in flute performance and Graduate Certificate in orchestral
studies from Wayne State University (2006 and 2007), a Master of Music
degree in flute performance from Kent State University (2010), and a
Doctor of Music degree in flute performance with specialized studies
certificates in College Teaching and Music Theory Pedagogy from the
Florida State University (2014).

His primary flute teachers include Eva Amsler, Diane McCloskey, Philip
Dikeman, and Ervin Monroe. He has had the opportunity to perform in
baroque and modern flute masterclasses with Aldo Baerten, Jeannie
Baxstresser, Bonita Boyd, Jean Ferrandis, Barthold Kuijken, Na’ama Lion,
Gro Sandvik, Karl-Heinz Schuetz, Mark Sparks, and Carol Wincenc. As an
orchestral musician, Kuhns has performed with the Tallahassee Symphony,
Tallahassee Community Chorus Orchestra, Pensacola Symphony, Symphonia
Gulf Coast, Cleveland’s Opera Circle Orchestra, the Mansfield Symphony,
Canton Symphony, Dearborn Symphony, and Detroit Symphony Civic
Orchestra. Currently he serves as Principal Flute of the Panama City
Pops Orchestra and as Second Flute/Piccolo with the newly formed Northwest Florida Ballet Orchestra. He has appeared as a soloist with the Florida State
University summer band, Wayne State University wind ensemble and
orchestra and can be heard on recordings with the Albany and Naxos
record labels.

He has served as a graduate teaching assistant at Florida State
University and Kent State University. He is a member of the Florida
Flute Association, National Flute Association, College Music Society,
and Society of Music Theory. Additionally, he is the former President of
the Flute Association at Florida State University. Mr. Kuhns has
presented and/or performed at the National Flute Association annual
conventions, Florida Flute Association conventions, Texas Flute Society
conventions and the Great Lakes Flute Festival. His arrangements have
been performed across the country and abroad.

Currently, he resides in Milton, Florida with his wife Krystal, their beautiful daughter Elizabeth, and their two cats.
